Access to Careers
Our research is on improving economic mobility for young Australians, focusing on equality of opportunity in accessing further education and employment opportunities.
The Challenge
Research shows an urgent need to improve career guidance and work-based learning in Australia. While investment in career education is growing, there is significant variation in accessibility, relevance and effectiveness.
The Approach
Our ‘Launchpad’ exploratory project comprised a series of research activities including a rapid evidence review, expert consultations and interviews with young people.
The purpose of the research was to:
1) Understand the post-school pathways landscape.
2) Identify the barriers to access.
3) Identify and develop actionable ideas to enhance career access and drive equitable outcomes through a behavioural and systems lens.
